Opening Prayer

Opening Prayer

In the morning light, O God,
may I glimpse again your image deep within me
the threads of eternal glory
woven into the fabric of every man and women.
Again may I catch sight of the mystery of the human soul fashioned in your likeness
deeper than knowing
more enduring than time.
And in glimpsing these threads of light
amidst the weakness and distortions of my life
let me be recalled to the strength and beauty deep in my soul.
Let me be recalled
to the strength and beauty of your image in every living soul.

Springtime Overture

In my devotional time this morning I came across this “Seasonal Psalm” entitled “Springtime Overture” by Edward Hays

God of all seasons, with artistic splendor you have given us an overture to the resurrection of your Son in the resurrection of spring from the cold tomb of winter. With joy I greet the coming of flowers and the return of birds, as I eagerly await the feast of the resurrection of Christ. Remove from my heart on this holy day any division or discrimination that keeps me frozen in separation from others. And make me one with all creation that sings the song of springtime.

A thought from my reading this morning; only when you are able to see that you are more than an isolated individual, that you are part of everyone and everything, will you be able to see the Divine in all of creation.
